September 13, 2016. Work & Co has earned a pair of top honors in Fast Company’s 2016 Innovation by Design Awards. These projects were recognized out of 1,700 overall entries from 41 different countries.
The first honor was for the Metropolitan Opera’s new digital platform, which brings the opera to life for younger audiences. The second was for our groundbreaking website, Work.co.
With the creation of the Met Opera’s new online experience, Work & Co brought a classic art form into the digital age. As Fast Company states: “A night at The Metropolitan Opera no longer requires expensive tickets or a trip to New York City.” The immersive online platform draws visitors into the drama of the opera whilst driving purchase transactions and donations.
At a time of dwindling public interest in the arts, first-time ticket buyers hit an all-time high in 2016. The new MetOpera.org was hailed as a “turning point in our quest for new audiences” by the Met’s General Manager, Peter Gelb.
Fast Company also recognized Work & Co’s own website as a living example of our belief in the value of great products and technology. “This fits within the company’s ethos: Work & Co prides itself on timeless design work,” noted the publication.
